Saving on Natural Gas

We offered ideas on how to save on natural gas and great deal of advice for cutting back on energy usage in an earlier article. However, there are still a few tips for saving on natural gas the private residential user or business owner can put to use daily.

As stated before, set the thermostat as low as is comfortable during the winter, and lower the temperature overnight. Each degree lower saves about 4 percent on heating bills. Keep heat registers free and clear of any blockages, such as furniture or stored items. Put sunlight to good use on clear days; open the curtains for sun heating. Set the water heater to a lower setting, and wash only full loads in your dish washer and clothes washer and dryer. Fix any water leaks and clean lint traps frequently to further improve efficiency. Follow some or all of these tips, and you'll greatly reduce the amount of money you must send to your natural gas supply company each month.
